NASA Air Safety Reporting System Alerts

The Air Safety Reporting System administered by NASA receives about 50,000 reports of safety concerns a year from pilots, air traffic controllers and other workers. NASA analysts review each report and strip out any identifying information so as to make the report anonymous.

About 20 percentof the reports end up in a public use database. A smaller percentage of more serious reports trigger safety alerts, which the ASRS program distributes to airports and controller and pilot groups.

Use DocumentCloud to search more than 1,600 alerts for safety concerns dealing with airports, aircraft and human errors. For more information on the NASA program, go to http://asrs.arc.nasa.gov/
